Ceramic Coating Myths: Dispelling The Rumors Behind This New Car Service

If you're considering getting a ceramic coating in Perth for your car, it's important to be aware of the facts and myths surrounding this new service. Ceramic coatings are different than waxes or sealants because they form a protective layer over your paint instead of just sitting on top. Many people think that these coatings can last indefinetly without needing any maintenance while others believe they will chip off easily if touched by anything abrasive like dirt or gravel on the road. These and other common misconceptions about ceramic coatings will be discussed in detail below:

MYTH #1: I don’t have to wash my car anymore since it has a ceramic coating.

Yes, proper application of ceramic coating increases the longevity of your vehicle, and makes the cleaning process much easier. However, you still must clean your vehicle. Properly applied, ceramic coating is not a “forcefield” or a “bullet-proof vest” but, it does dramatically increase the ease of cleaning your vehicle and keep it looking new for longer.

MYTH #2: My car won’t get scratched anymore with a ceramic coating.

There are many companies who use the term ‘impenetrable’ or ‘proof’ to make their ceramic coating seem more desirable, but that is not what a ceramic coating is at all.

It’s vitally important to know that perth ceramic coatings will help prevent scratches, but there are several types of scratches you need to be aware of. The kind of scratch that a ceramic coating will help prevent are called “marring” or “scratch marks”. These kinds of scratches are noticeable in direct sunlight — they are not visible in a shady spot — so you could think your paint is flawlessly coated until it’s in direct sunlight. The scratches often look like spider web lines on your paint. If you use the right products, in the right amounts, with the right techniques, like we do, you won’t get swirls. You’ll get a perfect surface every time.

MYTH 3: The ceramic coating is permanent.

Many product companies claim that their ceramic coating is permanent on the paint or that it forms a permanent bond to the paint. Everything in this world has a life expectancy and won't last forever, so this is misleading.

Although a well maintained nano ceramic coating has the ability to provide protection and shine for years on end, especially if routinely rejuvenated with a ceramic booster, it will eventually begin to fail.

Myth #4 – All Ceramic Boost Sprays are the Same – FALSE

Many ceramic coatings companies in Perth have been touting their all-purpose miracle spray ceramic coatings for the past few years. They all claim to provide 9H hardness and months of protection – when used as a standalone product.

There are a select few that are good for protection – and it’s important to learn how to weed through the plethora of silicone-based slippery sprays to find a boost that is truly protective.

There are generally three types of products made today:

Teflon-based sprays: That non-stick cooking pan you have in your kitchen – the one that’s made of Teflon. It’s good for cooking eggs and things? Well, the magic ingredient that makes this pan so useful is… Ceramic! Ceramic is a very hard material and it’s great for cooking with. It doesn’t stick to the food like Teflon does, and it won’t stick to the pan like rubberized materials do. However, it’s not great for protecting your vehicle from stone chips and other road debris.

Silicone-based sprays: Silicone/wax hybrid sprays are branded as ceramic coating. Again, by definition, these ingredients are ceramic, but don't coat as well as the nano coating will. If you would like to use these as a cheaper and more convenient method for protecting your car, it is a step above Teflon, but not the best for protecting your vehicle in the way you need.

SiO2 Boost Sprays: The good stuff can be found here. It's a blend of titanium dioxide and SiO2 These two ingredients help a ceramic coating bond to the surface. If you are going to use a maintenance spray for a professional ceramic coating, you should always use the SiO2 Boost.
